For starters, both the document types are created and designed by different companies, like PDF has been created by Adobe System while DOC is a brainchild of Microsoft. However, people who want to edit PDF files can go to their word document, make changes and save it again.
PDF were developed as delivery format that can be recognized by every platform. For example, whatever you write on Word DOC is saved in the same font and style you want, however, when you transfer the file to another computer, the font and style changes due to nonavailability on the same font.
Now if we talk about PDF, it keeps your document safe with a limitation of editing the content. It shows you the same font and style of writing as the person has written on their computer. This is a specialty of PDF format.
PDF files are secure and safe documents, and that is why it is used by most of the organizations, companies, colleges and lawyers.
Another big difference between the two formats is when you transfer information through Word DOC the size of the file stays the same. Whereas, file shared through PDF format automatically reduces the size of the file, and transfers it easily.
